Baja Hungarian: Przygonski extends Rally World Cup lead

The offroad action was wet and wild this weekend on the treacherous terrain of the Hungarian Baja. Making a splash on the 2018 FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup leaderboard was Polish driver Kuba Przygonski. The championship pace-setter was able to extend his advantage in the series thanks to another display of serious speed.

Joan ‚Nani‘ Roma and Alex Haro (both ESP) won the Baja with their MINI John Cooper Works Rally, followed by their team-mates Jakub ‚Kuba‘ Przygonki (POL) and Tom Colsoul (BEL) – who also raced a MINI JCW Rally – in second position.

Qatar’s Adel Abdulla closed the gap on his T2 rival Ahmed Al-Shegawi to 23 points after claiming a dramatic victory in the Veszprém-based HunGarian Baja, the eighth round of the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies, on Saturday afternoon.

The Nissan Patrol Y62 driver and French navigator Jean-Michel Polato trailed the Saudi at the overnight halt, but a superb run through the first selective section on Saturday morning gave the QX Rally Team star the advantage.
